Halloween video game sets release date with new gameplay trailer

September 26, 2025 by Andrew Newton

At this year’s PlayStation State of Play conference IllFonic and Gun Interactive revealed that the asymmetric stealth horror game, Halloween, will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store on 8th September 2026. A new trailer can be seen below, revealing some chilling gameplay…

This tribute to John Carpenter’s classic 1978 film is an asymmetric horror game where players will play as either an innocent civilian or the infamous Michael Myers. With single and multiplayer modes, players will wander the dark suburban streets of Haddonfield in an effort to slay or survive.

In the role of the Civilian, players will need to protect the townsfolk by getting them to a safe location, seeking out weapons and supplies, and finding the all-important telephone to call the police. While Civilians rush around, the player controlling Myers will stalk the shadows, using terrifying abilities to move around the map unseen and kill his victim.

Revealed in the new trailer below, Michael Myers can use the Shape Jump ability. This unusual ability allows players to move without being seen by Civilians and get into a better position to make their kill.

Players selected as Civilians will find that danger could be hidden around every corner, and surviving until the police arrive will depend on strategy, teamwork, and quick thinking.

“Our goal is to push the horror experience to the next level with single and multiplayer modes so players can get the most out of the game,” said Jared Gerritzen, CCO of IllFonic. “Whether they become the boogeyman or fight to protect Michael Myers’ victims, Halloween promises an unforgettable battle of fear and survival.”

Look out for more news coming for Halloween ahead of its release next September.
