Almost a year since its second season concluded, Paramount has announced that Taylor Sheridan’s espionage action-thriller series Lioness has been renewed for a third season.
The series follows Zoe Saldaña as the group leader of the CIA’s Lioness program, an elite team that embeds female agents into the inner circle of their targets to spy on and ultimately assassinate them. Nicole Kidman also stars as Lioness’ chief, Michael Kelly as the CIA deputy director and Morgan Freeman as the Secretary of State.
Also featuring in the series are Laysla De Oliveira, Genesis Rodriguez, Dave Annable, Jill Wagner, LaMonica Garrett, James Jordan, Austin Hébert, Jonah Wharton, Thad Luckinbill and Hannah Love Lanier.
The lengthy delay in renewal was due to getting the massive cast, many of whom have several projects on the go, scheduled for the third season as well as to accommodate Sheridan’s own busy schedule as the third season of Tulsa King premiered last month, Mayor of Kingstown returning in just a couple of weeks, season two of Landman premiering next month and development on the Tulsa King spin-off NOLA King gearing up for production early next year.
No details have yet been revealed on what the Lioness team may face next after their near-death battle in the season two finale which saw many of the members critically wounded after their successful mission. We’ll have to wait and see for further information on when production may begin along with a premiere window.
