Junji Ito Maniac: An Infinite Gaol trailer teases anime horror video game adaptation

October 3, 2025 by Andrew Newton

Softstar Entertainment has unveiled their upcoming first-person horror title, Junji Ito Maniac: An Infinite Gaol. Adapted from the anime series Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre, this upcoming horror will launch on Steam for PC. A new short trailer can be seen below, providing a peek at the terrifying environments and unsettling atmosphere…

With Junji Ito Maniac: An Infinite Gaol, players take the role of a college student who has lost their memory and awakens to find themselves in a western-style mansion. Unnerved, and with only a broken smartphone and some scattered memories as clues to what has happened, players must explore their new surroundings, piece together their memories and find out if there is a way to escape.

The mansion is filled with strange statues, hidden traps, and all manner of dangers and phenomena, including floating balloon heads and creeping, uncontrollable black hair. What are the dark secrets the manion holds and will there be a way to escape from this unrelenting cycle of horror?

Junji Ito Maniac: An Infinite Gaol features classic characters from Junji Ito’s works, and faithfully recreates scenes from the anime, providing a deeper immersion for experiencing Ito’s brand of horror.

All character motion in the game has been motion captured from professional actors who cast off natural movements in favour of the more otherworldly and grotesque movements to match the tone of the game. Perfect for a Junji Ito game.

Players can experience a demo of this immersive horror on Steam now.
