10 Upcoming Horror Movies to Watch in 2026

December 14, 2025 by Vanessa Maki

Vanessa Maki with ten horror movies to watch out for in 2026…

After a very long year in general and an interesting one for horror, 2026 is coming much quicker than anyone is prepared for. Thus we’re inching closer to the horror films coming out next year, and as ever we’ve an upcoming array of subgenres to feast on, with several sequels that people are rubbing their hands together in anticipation for, along with a tantalising selection of original horror offerings.

Whether you’re looking forward to the returning to a post-apocalyptic world with infected folks, the continuation of Grace’s nightmarish situation in Ready or Not, the twisted insanity of the Evil Dead universe, or the hunting down of a serial killer, there’s plenty to look forward to. Let’s not keep you waiting any longer and dive into this list of 2026 horror movies. Keep reading if you dare…

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple

If there was a divisive horror movie to come out this year, it was 28 Years Later. The sequel 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple follows the aftermath of what occurred in 28 Years Later, as Spike (Alfie Williams) struggles with his involvement in Jimmy Crystal’s (Jack O’ Connell) deranged cult, Dr. Kelson’s (Ralph Fiennes) new relationship becomes an issue for everyone, and other survivors are struggling to get by.

Judging by the trailer, The Bone Temple going to be a different film altogether. Instead of a coming-of-age horror story focussing mainly on Spike seeing the world as it truly is, especially with his mother fading away in front of him, The Bone Temple gives us a glimpse into the types of people who are free to be as twisted as they like in a post-apocalyptic environment. There’s guaranteed to be even more violence and intense scenes, especially as we explore hore Jimmy Crystal’s cult is actually inspired by real-world monster Jimmy Savile. Watch the trailer here.

Send Help

Sam Raimi has returned to the genre and this upcoming film looks intense. Send Help follows a boss and his employee (Dylan O’Brien and Rachel McAdams) who end up stranded together on an island, but things aren’t going swimmingly, and it’s becoming an increasingly dangerous situation. Being stuck with someone you don’t like is one thing, but having them be your boss who treats you horribly at work is another. There’s definitely a theme of someone finally having power over someone who makes them feel powerless in this film. And it’s going to make for a very wild ride as soon as they end up on the island.

Ultimately, there’s no telling what type of bonkers events we’re in for with Raimi’s return to horror. Not to mention, Rachel McAdams isn’t a typical face you see in horror, so it should be interesting to see her performance. Overall, we’re looking at a mostly singular location horror film with a woman making her horrible boss suffer, and that sounds like an entertaining time. Watch the trailer here.

Forbidden Fruits

A horror film with a cast compromised of mostly if not all women? Wonderful. Forbidden Fruits follows a witchy cult who run into trouble when a new girl starts working for the store they’re employees at. There isn’t much given away in the teaser trailer, and that’s ultimately a good thing because with a film like this one, you shouldn’t give away all the twists and turns.

There also happens to be some cast members who have dipped in their toes in horror before, like Victoria Pedretti and Alexandra Shipp. Therefore, it should be interesting to see what their return to the genre will look like this time around. Otherwise, this looks like it’ll be a very fun, very femme, and intriguing horror film to come out next year. Watch the trailer here.

Psycho Killer

A sadistic serial killer on a rampage? Psycho Killer follows a cop named Jane (Georgina Campbell) who winds up being widowed because of the serial name nicknamed “the Satanic Slasher”, and she goes down a dangerous path to finally catch him. We’ve seen plenty of horror films with serial killers who aren’t supernatural in nature or otherworldly, but there’s no harm in having another one, especially when it’s got disturbing vibes like this one seems to.

Georgina Campbell is the lead and that’s promising, because she seems to do well in the genre, coming off the likes of Barbarian and The Watchers. Having a solid lead is always important for films like these, as we’re in the position to root for them. All in all, Psycho Killer looks quite promising and there’s not much else that’s known about this one, so hopefully we can expect some twists and turns. Watch the trailer here.

Cold Storage

The horror-comedy Cold Storage follows a duo of self-storage employees who find themselves in a bad situation when parasitic fungus escapes from a government facility. If that doesn’t grip you then the fact that Georgina Campbell, Joe Keery, and Liam Neeson are all in the film might. There seems to be a specific vibe that they’re all bringing to the table in this, and it seems to work if the trailer indicates anything.

Tonally this is likely one of the more goofy films on the list, but there’s nothing wrong with that. We all need a little variety in horror every now and again. Plus, bodies exploding and a weird parasitic fungus causing problems? Sounds gooey and perfect for fans of body horror. Watch the trailer here.

Ready or Not 2: Here I Come

Ready or Not 2: Here I Come picks up directly from where the 2019 hit left off, and follows Grace (Samara Weaving) as she is forced into a new game involving more rich people – and this time her sister has been thrown into the mix. Judging by the cast and trailer, it’s going to be bloody and comedic, just like the first film was.

Sequels to horror films like Ready or Not, but this one looks like it’ll be a really fun time if nothing else. Not to mention the film has a stacked horror cast including  Samara Weaving, Kathryn Newton, Sarah Michelle Gellar, David Cronenberg, and Kevin Durand. Whether the film lives up to the original or not, we’re sure to enjoy ourselves with this one. Watch the trailer here.

Obsession

It’s not every day that someone’s YouTube found footage horror film lends them a certain level of success. Curry Barker impressed a lot of horror fans with Milk & Serial, especially with the minimal budget he had to work with. There’s only telling what he was likely able to accomplish with a studio budget, as well as prominent figures in the horror world being behind the scenes alongside him.

Obsession follows a man who makes the grave mistake of making the wish for his longtime friend to fall for him, using a supernaturally charged toy. Be careful what you wish for isn’t uncommon in horror, but there’s every chance that what happens in this film is enough to make people severely regret making a wish at all. Little else has been revealed about the film, with the teaser only giving us the briefest of glimpses at the horrors that await in May. Watch the trailer here and watch our Curry Barker interview here.

Evil Dead Burn

The Evil Dead franchise is yet to fizzle out, and we’re coming back swinging in 2026 with Sébastien Vaniček as the director. Evil Dead Burn marks the sixth entry in the franchise, and there are very little details about the plot and such at the time of writing. However, one thing is guaranteed: Vaniček behind this entry, it’s going to be brutal in a lot of ways.

Vaniček gave us Infested, and that happens to be a French horror film that’ll make anyone who is scared of spiders run for the hills. With the intensity of the Evil Dead franchise and the insanity of the Deadites, we’re sure to get a delightfully bonkers entry in the franchise when Evil Dead Burn heats up the summer season in July.

Wolf Creek: Legacy

Fans have been waiting for this third movie since the Wolf Creek TV series was axed back in 2017 after two seasons. Wolf Creek: Legacy follows an American family whose trip to Australia turns into a nightmare when they come across Mick Taylor (John Jarratt). There isn’t much else in the way of information about this one as of right now but we can safely assume it’s going to be brutal and there’s an added tension with children being the ones who are having to survive horrific circumstances. And with everything we know about Mick, he’s not going to go easy on them.

Unless there’s a major change in terms of release schedule, Wolf Creek: Legacy is set to release during Fall of next year. All we know for sure is that Mick is back, and we’re in for a very terrifying return. Buckle your seatbelts and definitely don’t venture where Mick likes to hang out.

Werwulf

If you’re a fan of moody period horror, then Robert Eggers’ horror films are likely up your alley and folks who loved The Witch (2015) and/or Nosferatu (2024) are likely in for another chilling watch with his next, Werwulf.

The film is set in medieval Britain and revolves around a group of villagers who are faced with a terrifying creature they’ve never come across before. Quality werewolf horror hasn’t been plentiful in recent years, and with a stellar cast that includes Lily-Rose Depp, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Willem Dafoe and Ralph Ineson, fans will be hoping that Eggers delivers a treat when the film opens on Christmas Day 2026.
