Colin Farrell returns as Sugar in season 2 first look images ahead of summer premiere

January 30, 2026 by Ricky Church

Colin Farrell’s return as detective John Sugar has been marked for a summer release date of June 19th. Additionally, Apple TV+ has released the first batch of images from Sugar‘s upcoming season.

Premiering in 2024, Sugar followed Farrell’s John Sugar, a private detective who is hired by a wealthy movie producer to locate his missing granddaughter. Season two will feature a new cast as Sugar’s new investigation takes him to the world of boxing even as his morals are further pushed to their limits. The official season 2 synopsis reads:

Farrell returns for a new case, tracking the troubled older brother of an up-and-coming local boxer as his search for his beloved missing sister continues. As the investigation expands into a citywide conspiracy with sinister intentions, Sugar must reckon with himself to answer the question — how far will he go to do what’s right?

Starring alongside Farrell in season two are Jin Ha (Pachinko), Raymond Lee (Raymond Lee), Tony Dalton (Better Call Saul), Laura Donnelly (The Nevers) and Sasha Calle (The Flash) with Shea Whigham (Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning) appearing in a special guest role.

Sugar season 2 will premiere on Apple TV+ on June 18th.
