The spell is going to be put back on audiences as Disney announced Hocus Pocus 3 is officially in development with the lead trio of Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy reprising their iconic roles as the bewitching Sanderson Sisters.
A third Hocus Pocus was announced in 2023, but development stalled and did not seem to be moving forward until now. According to Deadline, Disney will give Hocus Pocus 3 a theatrical release rather than the second’s straight-to-streaming premiere on Disney+. Hocus Pocus 2 was quite a success for Disney+ when it released in 2022 as its most-streamed new film at the time and throughout the month of October while also being received generally well by critics and fans of the original.

Released in 1993, Hocus Pocus followed the Sanderson Sisters as they were resurrected in the modern day with only one night to complete their spell to make them immortal before they’d die again. They attempt to kidnap a group of teenagers and children, who spend the night trying to stop the witches. The sequel focused on a new group of teenagers as they accidentally revive the Sandersons once again, who immediately get back to their wicked ways to gain immortality.
There is no word on the third film’s plot or director, or whether more original stars who were left out of the sequel, such as Thora Birch, Omri Katz, Vinessa Shaw and Jason Marsden, could return for this third outing.
