The Baby in the Basket comes to Shudder as part of July horror line-up

July 5, 2026 by Gary Collinson

Some very exciting news for us here at Flickering Myth to start the second half of the year, as our gothic horror feature film The Baby in the Basket has been picked up by Shudder and will stream as part of the platform’s July schedule in the United States, with our little indie included alongside a number of cult favourites and iconic titles of the genre!

Directed by Nathan Shepka (Dead Before They Wake) from a script by FM veteran Tom Jollife (Cinderella’s Revenge), The Baby in the Basket takes place in a remote convent on a Scottish island during World War II, and follows a group of nuns who discover an abandoned baby during a storm. Amber Doig-Thorne (Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey) leads a cast that also includes Maryam d’Abo (The Living Daylights) and Paul Barber (The Full Monty), Annabelle Lanyon (Legend), Michaela Longden (How to Kill Monsters), and Lisa Riesner (Moder).

The Baby in the Basket marked Flickering Myth’s first foray into the world of independent filmmaking, kicking off our partnership with Shepka Productions which has since expanded to include the suspense thriller Death Among the Pines (available to stream now on Tubi in the US and releasing in the UK in September), along with the recently-announced Robert the Doll reboot Robert Returns.

If you’d like to learn more about our filmmaking efforts, you can take a look at the Flickering Myth Films page here.

The Baby in the Basket will join Shudder on July 20th 2026.
