Universal Pictures are on the hunt for a new Dino-wrangler with the news that Jurassic World Rebirth director Gareth Edwards has left the sequel citing “creative differences”.
Per The Hollywood Reporter‘s story, the film’s core trio of Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, and Jonathan Bailey are set to return, but this time around the Dino-chaos won’t be orchestrated by the Godzilla and Monsters helmer.
No details are given on what the creative differences were, but Universal released a statement saying “We had an incredible experience working with Gareth on Jurassic World Rebirth“.
Said ‘incredible experience’ probably relates to the fact that despite a muted reception from critics, the seventh film in the long-running blockbuster franchise still grossed $869 million at the worldwide box-office.
David Koepp, who wrote the 1993 original and 2026’s Rebirth, is back on scripting duties for the sequel, while Jurassic Park director Steven Spielberg and producer Frank Marshall remain ever-presents.
