Physical copies of Mr. Nutz and Mr. Nutz: Hoppin’ Mad coming to SNEX and Mega Drive/Genesis

August 23, 2026 by Andrew Newton

Strictly Limited Games and Atari have announced they will be releasing classic retro platformers Mr. Nutz and Mr. Nutz: Hoppin’ Mad as physical releases for the SNES (PAL & NTSC) and the Mega Drive and Genesis in early 2027. All versions of these classics are available to pre-order now.

Physical publishing experts Strictly Limited publish retro classics for those gamers and collectors who value a truly authentic retro experience, and who also like their physical media (an issue that is currently going strong thanks to Sony’s announcement for the next PlayStation).

Mr. Nutz was originally released during the golden age of platformers and follows a red squirrel (the titular Mr. Nutz) as he travels through numerous environments to stop the evil Mr. Blizzard from plunging the world into another ice age. The game’s smooth controls, hidden secrets and colourful environments made this one of the more memorable platformers.

Mr. Nutz: Hoppin’ Mad is the fast-paced sequel originally released only on the Commodore Amiga (a Mega Drive version was planned). This time, Mr. Nutz has to battle against the invading Alien Chickens across large levels connected by an explorable overworld. Once again, the levels are very colourful, cleverly designed and place an emphasis on exploration.

Mr. Nutz and Mr. Nutz: Hoppin’ Mad are available to pre-order now from the Strictly Limited Games website, and will release early next year. Both of these releases will allow veteran gamers to rediscover a past favourite, or provide younger gamers with the chance to enjoy the charm and creativity put into these games.
