Ewan McGregor would “very much like to do” an Obi-Wan Kenobi Star Wars spinoff

March 31, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Since it was announced that Disney and Lucasfilm would be releasing Star Wars spinoff movies, there’s been a lot of speculation that Prequel Trilogy star Ewan McGregor could return as Obi-Wan Kenobi for a movie – or trilogy of movies – centred on the Jedi Knight.

McGregor briefly reprised the role of Obi-Wan for a brief, one-line cameo in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and now the actor has revealed to Collider that he’d love to return to the galaxy far, far away for a solo movie.

“I’d very much like to do one too. I think the story between Episode III and Episode IV, I think there’s a story there. I think that’s the Obi-Wan Kenobi movie, if there is one. The one that bridges my Obi-Wan Kenobi and Alec’s Obi-Wan Kenobi because there’s a—I don’t know how long he’s in the desert there, but it’s got to be twenty or thirty years. I’m not sure I’m at liberty to say, really [whether I’ve spoke to Kathleen Kennedy], but I’m very interested in doing that. That would be great. Maybe there’s even a trilogy!”
