During an interview with Digital Spy to promote his new movie The Nice Guys, Russell Crowe has revealed that Warner Bros. originally intending on making a number of sequels to Man of Steel before The Dark Knight came along and scuppered those plans.
“Originally — I could be completely wrong — I think there was a number of Superman movies,” said Crowe when asked if there was any talk of him reprising the role of Jor-El for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. “But I think they made the decision to jump past those and go to the idea of Batman and Superman in the same film. So, no, I didn’t have any discussions about that at all.”
As yet, there’s been no official word on a Man of Steel sequel (although we have had plenty of rumours), so at the moment it’s unclear what the future holds for Henry Cavill’s Superman beyond the two-part Justice League.
