Ben Affleck discusses his approach to the solo Batman movie

June 2, 2016 by Gary Collinson

As we all know, Ben Affleck has been writing a solo Batman movie with DC Comics Chief Creative Officer – and DC Films supremo – Geoff Johns, and during an interview with Cines Argentinos from the promotional campaign for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Affleck has offered some insight into how he’ll approach the story:

“I think what I would do, what I probably would do, is in some ways what Zack Snyder did with this [Batman v Superman], which is to borrow certain things from the great comic books, but create an original story around it because I wouldn’t want the fans to already know the story and be familiar, but I would borrow, steal, great things that have been done before in the comics.”

According to rumours, the solo Batman movie will feature “many, if not most” of The Dark Knight’s Rogues Gallery and that Affleck and Johns want to “tell the ultimate Batman story, and to do so they’re going to  bring in all the big guns. They’re going to have a big, sprawling Bat universe already in place.”

As yet, there’s no word on a release date for the solo Batman movie, but Affleck will be donning the cape and cowl for August’s Suicide Squad, as well as the currently-in-production two-part Justice League.
