Bryan Singer teases Cyclops, Jean Grey and Storm for X-Men: Apocalypse

May 8, 2014 by Gary Collinson

In an interview with SciFi Now, X-Men: Day of Future Past director Bryan Singer revealed a few tidbits as to what the 2016 sequel X-Men: Apocalypse will entail. He revealed, “my next goal is how did the X-Men come together? That story hasn’t been told yet, so Days of Future Past is the inbetweenquel. It’s in between the birth of that relationship with Charles and Erik and the formation of the X-Men.”

When asked as to whether this gives him the opportunity to revisit fan favourites Cyclops, Jean Grey and Storm, Singer responded, “Yeah exactly. In a way it feels like from this point forward we can do whatever we want but we’ll be moving forward with some of the actors from the First Class/Days of Future Past cast, so there’s stuff we’ve done in these last couple of movies that we’ll definitely continue doing for them, at least in Apocalypse, if not more movies going forward.”

Confirmed as returning for X-Men: Apocalypse are James McAvoy (Professor X), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), and Nicholas Hoult (Beast), while Singer has previously teased the possibility of Gambit and Nightcrawler making an appearance. Of course, if Cyclops, Jean and Storm do appear in the 80s set sequel, we’d have to assume they’d be recast. Who would you like to see taking on the roles? Let us know your thoughts…
