Comic Book Review – Tank Girl: Two Girls One Tank #2

June 15, 2016 by Kirsty Capes

Kirsty Capes reviews Tank Girl: Two Girls One Tank #2…

Perhaps it’s too much booze that’s got our swill-swigging hero seeing double, or maybe there really is a doppelganger on the scene? Whatever the case, it’s time for Tank Girl to solve the case of her pilfered Panzer!

SEE ALSO: Check out a preview of Tank Girl: Two Girls One Tank #2

Two Girls One Tank #2 follows on from the first issue of Brett Parson and Alan Martin’s news mini-series as Tank Girl comes face-to-face with her doppelganger and both are promptly arrested for the attempted heist of a convoy of trucks supposedly carrying cash. As Tank Girl and the ‘other’ Tank Girl – Magnolia the art dealer – are taken to jail, it’s up to Booga, Barney and Jet Girl to bust them out.

Two Girls One Tank #2 is just as hilarious as the first issue, with even more laughs from the likes of Barney and Tank Girl herself. Dialogue is bitingly funny and completely off the cuff; utterly ferocious. The appearance of Jet Girl will be a very welcome sight for long-time fans of the comic. She’s only around for a short while in this issue, but there’s a promise that Jet Girl will getting in on the fun in the next two issues, so fans have that to look forward to. Parson’s artwork and Martin’s writing makes Jet Girl’s introduction a jubilant moment for long-time fans, and gives a succinct and clarifying characterisation for newcomers, a testament to excellent writing and design.

There are plenty of stand-out moments in Two Girls One Tank #2 and a massive twist that some of the fans called at the end of issue one, but I’ll leave that for you to find out. The final panel – “We’ve got work to do” – is like the ‘time to kick ass’ moment in an action motive: totally badass. Two Girls One Tank is slowly turning in to a story of epic proportions, and I’m loving every minute of it.
