Kevin Hart says the Jumanji remake will modernize it in “a clever, unique way”

August 7, 2016 by Gary Collinson

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Kevin Hart has discussed the upcoming Jumanji remake, which will see him reuniting with his Central Intelligence co-star Dwayne Johnson, along with Jack Black (Goosebumps) and Nick Jonas (Scream Queens).

“I think we really have the opportunity to do something special,” states Hart. “We’re doing a remake of a movie that has no weak points. Jumanji was an amazing film — rest in peace to Robin Williams. So we’re not trying to recreate the movie that people may be familiar with, we’re trying to modernize it, for those people who don’t know what Jumanji is, in a clever, unique way. Not destroy the movie, of course, but pay homage to all parties that were involved in it and just make it special for this generation.”

The new Jumanji is set for release on July 28th 2017, with Jake Kasdan (Bad Teacher, Sex Tape) directing.
