Gerard Butler and Vin Diesel eyed to star as Kane & Lynch

November 5, 2013 by admin

It’s been a few years or so since any new light has been shed on the rather unlikely adaptation of the video game series Kane & Lynch, but seemingly the picture is now progressing. The last update implied Jamie Foxx and Bruce Willis would lead as the eponymous bad asses, with director F. Gary Gray (Law Abiding Citizen), but that was the last heard of the film since it was claimed to be stuck in development. Now it seems Gerard Butler (Olympus Has Fallen) is in talks to play Kane, which will likely happen seeing as F. Gary Gray and Butler collaborated previously on Law Abiding Citizen. It’s also been reported that Millennium Films have made an offer to Vin Diesel (Riddick), with a hope he’ll play Lynch.

There’s still little known about the story, but in brief, two death row inmates are released from prison after they’re sprung by Kane’s former associates, so they can get back to doing what they do best. Kane travels to Los Angeles, Japan and Cuba, with Lynch acting as the team’s watchdog in order to save his wife and daughter. It doesn’t sound like the most intriguing story, especially considering it’s an adaptation and not a generic action script. The script comes from Skip Woods (A Good Day to Die Hard) and Kyle Ward (Machete Kills). After a rough 6 years in development, the film could still have promise if it manages to break out of development…
