In this edition of The Week in Star Wars, we got new Empire covers for Rogue One as well as some new footage, Episode VIII beings editing and more…

Following on from last week’s trailer, Disney and Lucasfilm released a brand new international trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story which offers up some new footage. Not only that, but it also teases dialogue relating to Jyn’s father Galen Erso, played by Mads Mikkelsen. Check it out here…

…Moving over to the still-yet-to-be-titled Star Wars: Episode VIII, and director Rian Johnson shared an image from the edit bay as the movie officially enters post-production. It doesn’t reveal anything, but you can check it out here…

…What we do know is that composing legend John Williams will be returning to score Episode VIII in the next few weeks. In an interesting note, Williams apperantly doesn’t know who Rey’s parents are, but she is a key reason for him returning. “He was enchanted by actress Daisy Ridley’s portrayal of Rey and does not want another composer scoring her scenes,” an outlet noted. So even John Williams – who has been with Star Wars since 1977 – doesn’t know the secrets behind the closed doors of Disney…

…EA revealed details of the upcoming ‘Battle Station’ mode from Star Wars Battlefront’s upcoming Death Star expansion, which sees players battling across three phases as they look to complete each objective. It’s available next month, and more details can be found here…

…Sticking with video games for a moment and during this week’s Gamecon it was revealed that Star Wars Battlefront X-Wing VR Mission will now be titled Star Wars Battlefront Rogue One: X-Wing VR Mission, and will see gamers going up against a Star Destroyer. “Rogue One is in the same time period the base game covers, so to be relevant in the ever-evolving Star Wars universe we’ve since been able to work with Lucasfilm to make the connection here,” stated James Svensson, Producer at Criterion Games…

…Hot Toys unveiled a batch of promotional images for its 1/6th scale Finn (First Order Stormtrooper version) collectible figure from Star Wars: The Force Awakens; take a look here…

…Before we have the comic book previews for the week, it was announced that before the conclusion of Star Wars: Darth Vader, Marvel will be re-publishing issues #20-#23. Darth Vader has been pursuing his own agenda, but now it is time for the End of Games. As the threads begin to unravel, the Dark Lord of the Sith faces his greatest challenge yet. His deadly trials against Cylo! His machinations against the Emperor! His covert missions with Doctor Aphra and her murderous droids. All will be revealed in this explosive ending – now is the perfect time to jump on board…

…Which brings us to the comic book previews for the week. First up is Star Wars: The Force Awakens #3: Rey and Finn escaped Jakku in the Millennium Falcon and teamed up with Han Solo and Chewbacca! But they’re not in the clear yet — there be RATHTARS! Meanwhile, Kylo Ren meets with the mysterious Supreme Leader Snoke! The search for Luke Skywalker continues! And here’s the preview of Star Wars #22: The Star Destroyer Harbinger, a massive weapon of Imperial war. Also the target of the rebels’ new top-secret plan. Join Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Leia Organa for “The Last Flight of the Harbinger”!

That’s all for this week – may The Force be with you.
