Dwayne Johnson confirms that Jumanji is a sequel rather than a remake

August 21, 2016 by Gary Collinson

With filming on Fast 8 wrapping, Dwayne Johnson is now gearing up to go into production on Jumanji, and The Rock has taken to Instgram to clarify that the movie is not a reboot, but rather a sequel to the original 1995 film starring the late Robin Williams.

“In two weeks I’ll reunite with ol’ friends Kevin Hart and Jack Black and we have the honor to introduce a whole new generation to the amazing world of Jumanji,” states Johnson. “For the record we are NOT making a reboot, but rather a continuation of the awesome Jumanji story.”

Jumanji is set for release on July 28th 2017, and sees Jake Kasdan (Sex Tape) directing a cast that also includes Nick Jonas (Scream Queens).
