Jeremy Irons confirms that The Batman will shoot next year

October 28, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Earlier this month Joe Manganiello suggested that cameras would begin to roll on Ben Affleck’s The Batman early next year, and now Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice star Jeremy Irons has confirmed that the solo Dark Knight movie will shoot next year – and that he’s been promised he’ll have a little more to do as Alfred Pennyworth.

“Similar, but then, of course, Ben’s going to make a Batman film next summer,” said Irons when asked by Variety if we’ll see more of Alfred in Justice League than we did in Batman v Superman: “He promises me there’s going to be a bit more of Alfred in that. In the Justice League we have seven major lead characters and I’m the butler to one of them. It’s clear I will not be dominating that film.”

Iron was also asked if he was upset by the negative reviews for Batman v Superman, responding that: “Not at all. I was very pleased by the numbers. Zack Snyder seems to get a hard time from the press, which is strange. I don’t know if it has to do with the sort of secrecy that surrounds the making of it all. But the audience liked it, which in the end is all that matters.”

Justice League is set for release on November 17th 2017; The Batman is currently without a date, but assuming it does shoot next year then Warner’s mystery October 5th 2018 date seems to be a strong possibility.
