Two more names join the Deadpool 2 director shortlist

October 30, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Originally published October 30, 2016. Updated April 16, 2018.

A few days ago it was reported that John Wick co-director David Leitch is frontrunner to succeed Tim Miller as director on Deadpool 2, although the original report stated that there were still other names in the mix.

Well, thanks to Deadline, we now know another two filmmakers on 20th Century Fox’s radar, with the site reporting that both Drew Goddard (Daredevil, The Cabin in the Woods) and Magnus Martens (Luke Cage, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) are also in contention.

Fox seems to be wasting little time in lining up a replacement for Miller following his departure last week owing to creative differences with star Ryan Reynolds. And that’s no surprise really given the box office success of the first movie, which became the highest-grossing instalment of the X-Men franchise when it was released earlier this year.

Who would you like to see picking up the reins for the Deadpool sequel? Let us know your choice in the comments below…
