Aaron Eckhart won’t return for Angel Has Fallen

November 16, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Last month it was announced that Gerard Butler will be reprising the role of Secret Service agent Mike Banning for Angel Has Fallen, but he won’t be joined by Aaron Eckhart’s President Benjamin Asher in the new sequel to Olympus Has Fallen and London Has Fallen.

“The President is retired,” said Eckhart during an interview with Collider to promote his new film Bleed for This [read our review here]. “He’s golfing and he’s amassing his library right now, so… [salutes].”

The plot for Angel Has Fallen will see Butler’s Banning protecting Air Force One, so – as in real life – presumably we’ll be seeing a new President of the United States when production gets underway in early 2017. Expect some casting news soon.
