Stephen Amell discusses Arrow’s landmark 100th episode

November 22, 2016 by Gary Collinson

It’s a huge week for The CW’s DC series next week; not only do we get the hotly-anticipated four-part invasion crossover between Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, but the network’s original Arrowverse show also celebrates its landmark 100th episode.

Ahead of the big occasion, Arrow star Stephen Amell has been chatting to TV Line about the episode, describing it as a “radical departure” which affords Oliver Queen the opportunity to “to say goodbye to people that I never got the chance to say goodbye to.”

“It is such a radical departure from anything that we have ever done on the show,” states Amell. “We utilize the fantastical elements that we bring in on The Flash and carry through to Legends of Tomorrow with the present-day storyline to create something… that is not a flashback [or] a flash-forward. It’s something else entirely.”

“[The scenario] basically gives us license to do whatever we want and to show some things that we’ll never be able to show, to have some characters interact that will never be able to interact on the show again — probably. There [is] a very therapeutic moment for my character towards the end [of the Arrow episode] where I get to say goodbye to people that I never got the chance to say goodbye to.”

You can take a look at a poster for the 100th episode of Arrow here, along with a batch of promotional images here, and we have the official synopsis below.

ARROW CELEBRATES 100 EPISODES; THE EPIC SUPERHERO CROSSOVER CONTINUES — Oliver (Stephen Amell) wakes up to a life where he never got on The Queen’s Gambit. Robert (guest star Jamey Sheridan) and Moira Queen (guest star Susanna Thompson) are alive and well. Laurel (guest star Katie Cassidy) is his loving fiancée and their wedding is imminent. Everything seems perfect, but Oliver starts to notice small imperfections that make him question this new reality. Meanwhile, Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) and the recruits take on a new threat with help from The Flash (guest star Grant Gustin) and Supergirl (guest star Melissa Benoist).
