Rumour: Nat Wolff sought for Cannonball in Fox’s New Mutants, villain will be Demon Bear

November 24, 2016 by Ricky Church

As Fox tries to figure out what to do with their X-Men franchise post-Logan, the New Mutants film seems to be picking up speed. Coming Soon is reporting that the filmmakers are circling The Fault In Our Stars actor Nat Wolff, reuniting with the film’s director Josh Boone, for the role of Cannonball.

Additionally, the site also says rumours that Game of Thrones actress Maisie Williams and The Witch’s Anya Taylor-Joy being sought to play Wolfsbane and Magik are accurate, as well as suggesting that the central villain will be Demon Bear, posting the following storyboard animatic that is said to be from a sequence in the film.

Apparently New Mutants will differ from previous X-Men movies, leaning slightly more towards the horror genre as its being described as “Stephen King meets John Hughes”. The film was previously said to be released in 2018 and may now occupy one of Fox’s new dates for the year, possibly the November 6, 2018 date to keep out of the busy summer blockbuster period.

Are you looking forward to New Mutants, and what do you make of Demon Bear as a choice of villain? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
