More Twitter detective work links Armie Hammer to role in The Batman

December 4, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Originally published December 4, 2016. Updated April 15, 2018.

Earlier this week an eagle-eyed Twitter user found some interesting social media activity potentially linking John Cleese to a role in the DC Extended Universe, and now further Twitter detective work has made a case for Armie Hammer joining Ben Affleck’s The Batman.

As pointed out by Batman-News, Hammer has recently been followed by DC Films co-chief Geoff Johns and actor Joe Manganiello, who is set to portray the villain Deathstroke in the Batman solo movie, while Hammer has also started following Johns.

This is of course unconfirmed speculation at present, but as we saw earlier this year, director Rick Famuyiwa began following DC-related accounts prior to signing on – briefly – to helm The Flash, so…

Should Hammer sign on to The Batman, this would be his second brush with The Dark Knight, as he was originally cast as the Caped Crusader back in 2007 for George Miller’s ultimately aborted Justice League Mortal movie.
