Nathan Fillion’s Guardians of the Galaxy character revealed?

June 24, 2014 by Gary Collinson

A few days ago, Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn confirmed that Firefly and Castle star Nathan Fillion is set to make his long-awaited debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with “a very small fun cameo” in the upcoming superhero space opera. Gunn also shot down speculation that Fillion would portray Richard Rider – a.k.a. Nova – and now the folks at SchmoesKnow claim to have uncovered his character. If you don’t want to be spoiled (potentially, at least), then stop reading now….

So, according to the site, Fillion will in fact lend his voice to the character of Cosmo. For those of you not steeped in Marvel lore, Cosmo is the head of security for Knowhere, a location situated inside the head of a Celestial being. And his just so happens to be a dog. One that may or may not be part of Russia’s canine space program…

However, it looks like James Gunn has also shot this report down, stating on Twitter that “you fan journalists need new sources.”

Guardians of the Galaxy is set for release on July 31st in the UK and August 1st in North America, with James Gunn (Super) a cast that also includes Chris Pratt (The Lego Movie) as Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana (Star Trek Into Darkness) as Gamora, Dave Bautista (Riddick) as Drax the Destroyer, Bradley Cooper (American Hustle) as Rocket Raccoon, Vin Diesel (Fast & Furious 6) as Groot, Benicio Del Toro (Sin City) as The Collector, Lee Pace (The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug) as Ronan the Accuser, Karen Gillan (Doctor Who) as Nebula, Djimon Hounsou (Blood Diamond) as Korath, John C. Reilly (Step Brothers) as Rhomman Dey,  Glenn Close (Damages) as Nova Prime Rael and Josh Brolin (Men in Black 3) as Thanos. Watch the latest trailer here.
