Dermot Mulroney joins Insidious: Chapter 3

June 26, 2014 by admin

Principle Photography is set to begin for Blumhouse Pictures’ Insidious: Chapter 3 on July 7th and it has just announced a new cast member in the form of Dermot Mulroney (August: Osage County).

Director Leigh Whannell revealed the news via his Twitter account:

“HUGELY excited to officially announce that great actor/great human Dermot Mulroney has been cast as one of the leads in Insidious Chapter 3!”

Mulroney joins a cast that also includes Stefanie Scott (Jem and the Holograms). No other cast has been officially announced.

The first Insidious movie was about a family who was dealing with their child who was possessed by demons while its sequel, Insidious: Chapter 2, was the haunted Lambert family who were investigating a childhood secret that left them dangerously close to the spirit world.

There are no details on plot for Insidious: Chapter 3 just yet, but the movie has been penned by Whannell (Saw, Dead Silence).

Jason Blum of Blumhouse Pictures will serve as producer alongside Oren Peli (Paranormal Activity) and James Wan (The Counjouring). Steven Schneider, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Peter Schlessel, Lia Buman, and Xavier Marchand are executive producing.

Blumhouse Pictures announced earlier this week that they sold the acquisition rights for their upcoming horror movie Superstition which is said to be a modern version of I Know What You Did Last Summer with a found footage twist.
