Channing Tatum and Tom Hardy may team up for J.C. Chandor’s Triple Frontier

January 6, 2017 by Justin Cook

J.C. Chandor’s next movie, Triple Frontier, may see two major stars leading the cast if conversations are successful and deals go through. According to Deadline, Channing Tatum (Hail, Caesar!) and Tom Hardy (Taboo) are circling the project, and Paramount has been interested in getting them on board since last month.

Triple Frontier takes place in a haven for organized crime where the borders of three countries, Paraguay, Argentina, and Brazil, meet. If that description doesn’t immediately grip you, the talented people behind the project should be able to get you more interested.

Chandor, who is set to helm the film, has yet to have a misfire when it comes to his previous directorial efforts. He came on the scene in 2011 with Margin Call, followed that up two years later with All is Lost and most recently helmed A Most Violent Year. The film’s screenwriter, on the other hand, is Oscar winner Mark Boal, whose previous projects include The Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty. Boal’s involvement actually makes quite a bit of sense, seeing as how years ago Kathryn Bigelow, the director of the two aforementioned movies, was attached to direct. In fact, the film was going to be the pair’s follow-up to The Hurt Locker before Zero Dark Thirty came along.

Tom Hanks, Will Smith, Leonardo DiCaprio and Johnny Depp have all circled the project at one point or another. Charles Roven and Alex Gartner will produce the thriller for Atlas Entertainment.
