The Big Bang Theory close to two-season renewal

February 16, 2017 by Gary Collinson

It looks like we can expect to see plenty more of The Big Bang Theory, with Deadline reporting that CBS is close to finalising new deals with stars Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar which will see the hit sitcom renewed for a further two seasons.

The site reports that all five of the original stars will be receiving financial parity in a deal that’s said to be worth around $1 million apiece each episode. Once the contracts have been signed, CBS will then start negotiating with Melissa Rauch and Mayim Bialik, who are expected to receive major salary increases from their current deal of around $175,000 per episode.

In addition to the main show, CBS and Warner Bros. TV are also developing a spinoff prequel entitled Sheldon, which will see a younger actor taking on the role played by Jim Parsons.
