Moonlight star Trevante Rhodes comments on Green Lantern Corps rumors

March 1, 2017 by Robert Kojder

Moonlight won big at the Oscars taking home Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay, and now it’s time for the stars involved in the groundbreaking, landmark achievement to branch out onto wider projects.

One such prospect is the rumor that star Trevante Rhodes is currently in talks to play John Stewart for the eventual DCEU blockbuster Green Lantern Corps.

At this past weekend’s Academy Awards, Rhodes was asked by MTV about the speculation, with the actor simply stating “yes” to the idea of playing a superhero, and “I don’t know”when asked specifically about Green Lantern.

Naturally, Rhodes could be playing down rumors to keep the official casting a surprise. There’s also speculation that one member of the Green Lantern Corps will make an appearance in this November’s DC superhero blowout extravaganza Justice League.

Would you like to see Trevante Rhodes as John Stewart? Let us know below in the comment section…

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League will reunite Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice stars Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jason Mamoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta alongside J.K. Simmons (Whiplash) as Commissioner Gordon, Amber Heard (The Danish Girl) as Mera, Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man) as Vulko, Kiersey Clemons (Dope) as Iris West, Ciaran Hinds (Game of Thrones) as Steppenwolf and Julian Lewis Jones (Stella) in an as-yet-unrevealed role. It is set for release on November 17th 2017.
