Patrick Stewart open to playing Professor X in Marvel’s Legion

March 9, 2017 by Gary Collinson

A few weeks ago Patrick Stewart announced that he was taking a leaf out of Hugh Jackman’s book and retiring from the role of Professor Charles Xavier following the release of 20th Century Fox’s latest X-Men offering Logan.

A week later, Stewart then revealed that a potential appearance alongside Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool would be enough to tempt him back, and now so it seems would a guest appearance in Marvel and FX’s TV series Legion.

Appearing on The Late Late Show with James Cordon alongside Legion star Dan Stevens, Stewart was asked by Stevens whether he’d be game to make an appearance, given that – in the comic books at least – Charles Xavier is the father of Stevens’ character David Haller, with Stewart responding: “Absolutely! 100%.”

Check out the exchange here…

Legion showrunner Noah Hawley has previously stated that he’d be open to including elements and characters from the movie universe, although he suggested it may not be entirely possible from a financial perspective. Still, Stewart seems keen, and his inclusion would surely prove to be a huge boost to the TV show.
