Paramount has 14 more Transformers stories written, Michael Bay interested in directing one

April 5, 2017 by Robert Kojder

No matter how bad the critical reception dips there is no arguing that the Transformers movies are anything but hugely successful at the box office.

That trend will likely continue this summer with the release of Transformers: The Last Knight, before Paramount Pictures extends the franchise with the fruits of its Transformers writers room, beginning with a Bumblebee spinoff movie in 2018.

Although Michael Bay has previously said that The Last Knight will be his last Transformers movie, the director been chatting to MTV about the future of the franchise, revealing that he may not be done with the series after all.

“There are 14 stories written and there’s good stuff,” said Bay, who has helmed every instalment in the series so far. “I would like to do one of them though… A Transformers spinoff.”

Be sure to check out our exclusive interviews with Transformers: The Last Knight stars Isabela Moner and Jerrod Carmichael, along with our report on the special IMAX preview, and let us know if you are excited for more Michael Bay directed Transformers movies in the comments below…

The Last Knight shatters the core myths of the Transformers franchise, and redefines what it means to be a hero. Humans and Transformers are at war, Optimus Prime is gone. The key to saving our future lies buried in the secrets of the past, in the hidden history of Transformers on Earth. Saving our world falls upon the shoulders of an unlikely alliance: Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg); Bumblebee; an English Lord (Sir Anthony Hopkins); and an Oxford Professor (Laura Haddock).

There comes a moment in everyone’s life when we are called upon to make a difference. In Transformers: The Last Knight, the hunted will become heroes. Heroes will become villains. Only one world will survive: theirs, or ours.

Transformers: The Last Knight reunites Michael Bay with franchise veterans Mark Wahlberg, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Stanley Tucci, John Turturro, John Goodman and Peter Cullen, while new additions to the cast include Isabela Moner (100 Things to Do Before High School), Jerrod Carmichael (Bad Neighbours), Laura Haddock (Guardians of the Galaxy), Santiago Cabrera (Merlin), Liam Garrigan (Once Upon a Time), Mitch Pileggi (The X-Files) and Anthony Hopkins (Thor: The Dark World). The film hits theaters on June 23rd, 2017.
