Freeform renews Shadowhunters for season 3

April 22, 2017 by Gary Collinson

The cast of Shadowhunters has announced that Freeform has renewed the Mortal Instruments series for a 20-episode third season, which will air in 2018. Watch the announcement video here…

Shadowhunters is set to resume its second season on June 5th, and will see the Shadowhunters and Downworlders reeling from what happened at the New York Institute in the winter finale. As the rift between the two sides grows larger, the team and their Downworld friends and lovers are put in the middle of the dangerous divide. Torn between the Clave’s rules and what they feel is right, Clary, Jace, Alec and Isabelle struggle to help forge a new beginning. Relationships will be tested, a new Shadowhunter named Sebastian will join the fray and the Seelie Queen will step out of the shadows in the summer season.

The series, which is based upon Cassandra Clare’s book series, stars Katherine McNamara as Clary Fray, Dominic Sherwood as Jace Wayland, Alberto Rosende as Simon Lewis, Emeraude Toubia as Isabelle Lightwood, Matthew Daddario as Alec Lightwood, Isaiah Mustafa as Luke Garroway, and Harry Shum Jr. as Magnus Bane.
