Riverdale casts Mark Consuelos as Veronica’s father Hiram Lodge for season 2

April 26, 2017 by Ricky Church

The season one finale is still a few weeks away, but Riverdale is already planning ahead, with TVLine revealing that Pitch actor Mark Consuelos has joined the cast as a series regular for its second season. He will play Hiram Lodge, Veronica Lodges’ father, as he comes back to Riverdale.

Throughout its first season, Hiram Lodge has been pulling a lot of strings behind the scenes, but has not appeared yet due to him being behind bars thanks to his embezzlements coming to light. The show has described him as “a ruthless, handsome, charismatic businessman who is coming back to Riverdale after weathering a financial scandal that almost destroyed him. He is there to reconnect with his wife Hermione and, especially, his daughter Veronica, who is the apple of his eye.”

There is a chance, however, that Consuelos may have to pass on the role. He is the lead in Fox’s sports drama Pitch, but his role on Riverdale is in second position to Pitch should it get renewed for a second season. As Fox chooses which of its series to renew and cancel, we’ll have to wait for full confirmation that Consuelos will be playing Hiram Lodge.
