Taken TV Series renewed for season 2 by NBC

May 10, 2017 by Samuel Brace

The television series based on the Liam Neeson film Taken has been renewed for a second season.

Serving as a prequel to the Luc Besson action franchise, Taken will be coming back for more episodes over at NBC.

However, the series’ showrunner, Alex Carey – who also developed the project – will not be returning when the show comes back for season two.

While the split is said to be amicable, Deadline is reporting that the show is looking to head in a new creative direction now that Carey is no longer onboard.

It is now likely that the show will adopt a more procedural format that has brought success for other NBC shows like The Blacklist.

Taken is a modest performer in terms of ratings, pulling in 1.3 milllion adults in the 18-49 bracket, and 7 million viewers overall.

The cast for Taken includes Clive Standen as Bryan Mills, Jennifer Beals, Gaius Charles, Brooklyn Sudano, Monique Gabriela Curnen, Michael Irby, James Landry Hébert and Jose Pablo Cantillo.
