The Week in Star Wars – Han Solo concept art leaked, The Last Jedi rumours, The Force Awakens ending changed and more

May 14, 2017 by admin

The Week in Star Wars returns with news for Han Solo, The Last Jedi, The Force Awakens, Battlefront II and more…

Let’s kick things off with Han Solo: A Star Wars Story (not the confirmed title), and some rumours have landed online surrounding possible characters in the movie. The chaps over at Making Star Wars posted the details, claiming two new characters for the movie, Mother Proxima, (said to be some sort of puppet) and, a female character named Val who is said to have “top billing”. None of this is confirmed of course, but the site speculates that Val could be played by Emilia Clarke. Not content with just those three, the site revealed three more characters…

…Another rumour here, but some possible concept art for the movie landed online which showed off vehicles, Stormtroopers and Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo…

…Before we kick off with Star Wars: The Last Jedi, director Rian Johnson has been talking about changing the ending of Star Wars: The Force Awakens to accommodate his movie. In the original ending, BB-8 was to go with Rey to see Luke Skywalker, but Johnson asked if he could be replaced with BB-8. “Originally it was BB-8 who went with Rey, which makes sense for the story in a way,” he said. “But I asked, ‘Can you do me this solid and switch the droids?” Johnson also spoke about Luke’s exile, which you can read here…

…Let’s look ahead to Star Wars: The Last Jedi now (which Daisy Ridley has called “more ominous”), and some rumours of its own surfaced online which claimed that Leia and Snoke would have some form of a showdown in the movie. We won’t post anything here if you’re avoiding spoilers, but you can read about it here…

…If you’re interested, here’s the TIE Fighter that Kylo Ren will be flying in Star Wars: The Last Jedi…

…A big complaint coming out of Star Wars Battlefront was a lack of single player campaign and not enough content. Well, it looks like those voice have been heard as Star Wars Battlefront II is set to have three times the amount of content including, “a brand-new story, a new single-player campaign, new modes, characters, vehicles and planets from all eras in the Star Wars universe, as well as a live service plan that will continue to add even more fun for the global community…”

…Our own Ricky Church has reviewed the latest Star Wars novel, Star Wars: Guardians of the Whills, which you can read here…

…Hot Toys unveiled their new 1/6th figures recently, and both are from Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back. You can check promotional images of Princess Leia here, and Han Solo here…

…And finally, here are your comic book previews for the week. First up is Star Wars: The Screaming Citadel #1: “THE SCREAMING CITADEL” — PART 1 – Rebel pilot and rogue archaeologist wander side by side into the darkest shadows of the galaxy as Luke Skywalker reluctantly teams up with Doctor Aphra! The Doctor makes Luke an offer he can’t afford to pass up…one that leads him to a very rare gathering at the heart of the infamous Screaming Citadel. Will Luke find what he’s looking for? Can Aphra be trusted? Or will they both wind up victims of the Citadel’s Queen? And this all continues in Star Wars #31: “THE SCREAMING CITADEL” — PART 2 While Luke and Aphra face the Queen of the Citadel…Han and Leia are coming…for Aphra?! Next up is Star Wars: Darth Vader #1, and here’s Star Wars: Poe Dameron #15: It is a sad day for the Resistance as they mourn the loss of a fallen comrade. But their fight is far from over – the First Order must be stopped! And Captain Phasma knows just how to get Terex to toe the line.

That’s all for this week – may the Force be with you.
