It seems that director James Gunn has no mercy for those that text during his movies.
To catch you up to speed: a man from Austin, Texas is currently suing his movie-date for texting during a screening of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Brandon Vezmar, 37, is suing his date for a whopping $17.31 for texting during the movie. You read that right. He is suing her for the cost of a single ticket to see Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 in 3D.
So what does James Gunn think of this debacle? The director took to Twitter to give his verdict:

Yes. Texting during a movie is supremely irritating, and doing so projects a lack of social awareness, and common decency. However, perhaps a simple reprimand would do. Western countries are quite lucky, in fact, to have relatively quiet theaters. For example: China, the biggest movie market in the world right now, is rampant with loud moviegoers. Patrons regularly chat with each other, text, and answer phone calls during movies, and this is considered culturally normal. While the woman’s actions can’t be condoned, perhaps it is best to just avoid legal fees that would likely exceed the cost of the ticket?

The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage.
