Nicole Kidman comments on potential Big Little Lies season 2

Nicole Kidman has spoken about returning for a second season of the popular HBO drama Big Little Lies.

The murder mystery series caught the eye upon its initial release with film stars Reese Witherspoon, Shailene Woodley, and Nicole Kidman leading proceedings along with a host of familiar faces.

Season one seemed to wrap up events within the show pretty conclusively via a violent and traumatic final episode, but that hasn’t stopped talk of a potential follow up.

We know that the book’s author is open to the idea and has been asked to come up with a new story for a potential second season by the show’s producers.

And know one of the stars herself has commented on the prospect, with iconic actress Nicole Kidman responding to the idea during an interview with Variety.

“If the storyline could be powerful and compelling. If there is a way to form these women’s lives further, that’s really interesting. It would be so lovely if we could do it.”

Kidman also noted her surprise at not just the show’s impact but at the impact TV now has on the culture.

“I cannot believe how it entered the zeitgeist. It’s really been a huge eye opener for me on the power of television, the power of that particular story and how it connected. It was glorious, actually. While it was on, the way people were coming up, saying: “What happens next?” They were obsessed. It was beautiful. I was very much part of people’s lives.”

Whether or not a story can be created to meet Kidman’s stated standards for returning remains to be seen. It certainly wouldn’t be a surprise to see it return however.
