Oscar Isaac, Jake Gyllenhaal, Mark Wahlberg, James McAvoy and Nicholas Hoult reportedly up for Bloodshot

May 18, 2017 by Gary Collinson

It looks like Sony is aiming high for the lead role in Bloodshot, the first offering from the studio’s shared Valiant movie universe, with The Wrap reportedly revealing a wishlist of actors to play the title character.

According to the site, Sony has identified a “wish list” of eight actors, which includes Oscar Isaac (Star Wars: The Force Awakens), Jake Gyllenhaal (Nocturnal Animals), Mark Wahlberg (Transformers: The Last Knight) and X-Men stars Nicholas Hoult and James McAvoy.

Apparently the studio is gearing up to make an offer to the lead, although the report cautions that “the fact that the actors are on the wish list doesn’t necessarily mean Sony is in talks with them” and that said offer may well be to one of the unnamed three.

Bloodshot is being directed by Blur Studio’s Dave Wilson, who helmed the cinematic trailers for the likes of Mass Effect 2, Bioshock: Infinite and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II, and has been written by Eric Heisserer (Arrival). The plan is for the movie to launch a cinematic universe, which will be followed by a Harbinger movie, and building towards a major Harbinger Wars crossover.
