Fox cancels 24: Legacy, but looking at other potential 24 spinoffs

June 8, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Last month FOX announced that 24: Legacy had been put on hold due to star Corey Hawkins’ commitments to the Broadway play Six Degrees of Separation, which took a potential second season off the table for this fall.

Well, it seems that a second season is now off the table for good, as Variety is reporting that Fox has cancelled the spinoff show, but is actively exploring future iterations of the 24 franchise. This could potentially take the form of an anthology series, built around the same real-time storytelling format of the original series.

24: Legacy ran for 12 episodes and saw The Walking Dead star Hawkins as war hero Eric Carter, who discovers that his former squad mates are being hunted and killed and teams up with CTU to save his life, whilst preventing a series of terrorist attacks on U.S. soil.

Are you disappointed that we won’t be getting a second season of 24: Legacy? Does the prospect of an anthology format excite you? Or is it time for Fox to let the series die? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
