Jennifer Lopez is to produce and star in romantic comedy Second Act

June 22, 2017 by Samuel Brace

Jennifer Lopez is set to produce and star in a romantic comedy called Second Act.

The pop star and actress has joined the venture as part of STX Films’ efforts to produce female centric movies.

The film will apparently be in the same vein as Working Girl and Maid in Manhattan, with Lopez playing a store employee who reinvents herself in order to show Madison Avenue that her street smarts are as valuable as a college degree.

The film will be directed by Peter Segal, whose credits include comedies 50 First Dates, Anger Management, and Get Smart.

The idea for Second Act sprang from Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and Justin Zackham who will both be writing the film’s script, with Lopez, Goldsmith-Thomas, Zackham and Benny Medina producing.

The Chairman of STX, Adam Fogelson, and the studio’s president of production, Sam Brown, made the announcement on Thursday.

Future STX movies include Luc Besson’s Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, and Aaron Sorkin’s Molly’s Game.
