One of the co-creators for hit drama Sherlock thinks the show’s end may have come.
The series began back in 2010, and has only managed four seasons in that significant period of time.
This is mainly due to the scheduling of the show’s two stars, Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman.Mark Gatiss claims that this is exactly the issue with regards to the show moving forward, and that series’ impossible schedule may just keep it off the air entirely.
Speaking on the podcast A Stab in the Dark (Via Digital Spy), Gatiss has said the following: “It was very, very hard to schedule the last series, because of Martin [Freeman] and Benedict [Cumberbatch]’s availability. And Steven Moffat’s and mine. There is always that Fawlty Towers principle of, ‘Let’s just leave it’. We’ve had the keys to Baker Street for a while, but one of the wonderful things is that they’re always shared. They were shared while we were making it. There’s nothing wrong with saying, ‘That was our version, somebody out there go and do their version.’”
This is an entirely understandable comment by Gatiss; both the show’s stars are incredibly busy actors, so getting them together at a time that suits all parties will obviously prove as difficult as it has in the past.
