Infamous horror The Poughkeepsie Tapes set for Blu-ray and DVD release this October

July 9, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Scream Factory has announced that it is set to give the infamous serial killer horror The Poughkeepsie Tapes a long overdue home-entertainment release on DVD and Blu-ray this October.

Produced in 2007 and directed by John Erick Dowdle (Quarantine, Devil, As Above, So Below, No Escape), the film tells the story of a serial killer through a series of interviews, and footage from snuff tapes he created of his victims. It was originally slated for a theatrical release in 2008 before being pulled by MGM, and received a brief VOD release in the States in 2014.

In 2001, police in Poughkeepsie, New York, made a shocking discovery — 10 bodies buried in the backyard of a residential house. Astonishingly, that was only the beginning. Inside the home, police uncovered over 800 neatly organized videotapes detailing the exploits of one man’s decade-long crime spree. The most disturbing part of the find was that the killer had filmed all of the footage himself — from his first moments stalking his victims to their last seconds alive.

Take a look at the trailer here…

The Poughkeepsie Tapes will hit DVD and Blu-ray on October 10th.
