Josh Brolin confirms he was in the running for Batman

September 9, 2013 by admin

After the announcement at San Diego a couple months back, there was a lot (and we mean a lot) of speculation from “reputable sources” about who might take on the role of The Dark Knight for Zack Snyder’s Batman vs. Superman.

As we all now know it will be Ben Affleck putting on the cowl, but one of the men who was speculated has confirmed he was in the running – Josh Brolin.

In an interview with The Huffington Post, Brolin said, “I didn’t have conversations about it, but Zack, that was part of his idea. It just didn’t turn out. It’s OK. It is OK. You know, another scenario might have worked better, but I’m happy for Ben.”

He also spoke out about the negative reactions to Affleck’s casting online, “I’ve never seen such a global reaction in my life, I feel for him, truly. I would not want to be him right now. The reaction becomes so personal. It’s like, ‘F*ck this guy, I wish he was dead.’ And you’re like, ‘What? Dude, seriously? This guy is just working like you are. He’s doing the same thing you are. He’s trying to make the best choices he can… I want him to kick ass and I want everyone to love it and kind of eat their words.”

Josh Brolin can be seen soon in Spike Lee’s English Language remake of Oldboy, while Batman vs. Superman is set for release in July 2015 and will also see Henry Cavill reprise his role as Clark Kent/Superman, along with Lawrence Fishbourne as Perry White and Amy Adams as Lois Lane.
