George Lucas still offers Kathleen Kennedy Star Wars suggestions about the Jedi

August 15, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Disney may have rejected his ideas for the Sequel Trilogy, but it seems that George Lucas still offers Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy the occasional piece of advice relating to the Star Wars saga.

“Not really,” Kennedy told EW when asked whether Lucas still offers input into the films and the stories for upcoming films. “But he’ll whisper in my ear every now and then. Usually it’s something specific or important to him about Jedi training. Things like that.”

Of course, the Jedi may soon become irrelevant to the future of the saga, given Luke Skywalker’s line from the trailer for December’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi: “I only know one truth — it’s time for the Jedi to end.”

While Lucas’ involvement in the Star Wars saga looks to be over, there has been conflicting reports as to whether he’ll have anything to do with Lucasfilm’s other big franchise Indiana Jones. Steven Spielberg has said that Lucas will serve as executive producer on Indiana Jones 5, while screenwriter David Koepp has said that he doesn’t believe Lucas is involved in any capacity.
