RIP Marilyn Burns (1949 – 2014)

August 6, 2014 by Luke Owen

We are very sad to report the passing of actress Marilyn Burns, who was found dead in her home in Texas. She was 65.

TMZ, who reported the story, have said the cause of death is currently unknown and an autopsy is to be performed.

Burns starred in the 1976 TV series Helter Skelter and Tobe Hooper’s Eaten Alive and Future-Kill but is perhaps best known for her turn as sole survivor Sally Hardesty in Hooper’s Texas Chain Saw Massacre. She would also cameo in Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation and the most recent Texas Chainsaw 3D. Her final role will be in Josh Vargas’ In A Madman’s World.

Her manager Chris Roe contacted Dread Central to say, “it is with sad news that I can officially confirm that actress Marilyn Burns passed away earlier today. She was found unresponsive by a family member this morning in her Houston, Texas, area home. Her family asks for privacy at this time. Further details will be released later.”

We here at Flickering Myth would like to pass our condolences to the family and friends of Marilyn. Our thoughts are prayers are with them in this difficult time.

As a tribute to the woman’s terrific work, here’s the final scenes of Texas Chain Saw Massacre…
