Disaster epic Geostorm comes to Android and iOS

October 3, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Video game studio Sticky Studios has announced the release of Geostorm, the official turn-based puzzle game inspired by the upcoming feature film, which is available as a free download now on iOS and Android today.

Geostorm immerses players in a world filled with cataclysmic events and environmental dangers as they puzzle their way to safety and combines turn-based puzzle gameplay with larger than life natural disasters. Floods, lightning storms and other weather threats add a whole new layer to the gameplay with surprising results.

The story of Geostorm follows three members of the Dutch Boy project, tasked with gathering and transferring essential data to the International Space Station. Sabotaged weather control satellites are destroying cities around the globe, only with the data can the satellites be stopped. In addition to the three chapters the game launches with, a fourth chapter will be released later this year, adding new levels on the International Space Station and concluding the story of Geostorm.

“Much more than just a movie game, Geostorm has become a passion project for our team and stands out as a game on its own. We have worked many months on creating the best possible turn-based puzzle game” says Jeroen de Cloe, CEO of Sticky Studios. “The game is fully playable without prior knowledge of the movie. Our goal was to create a truly stand-alone experience.”

After an unprecedented series of natural disasters threatened the planet, the world’s leaders came together to create an intricate network of satellites to control the global climate and keep everyone safe. But now, something has gone wrong—the system built to protect the Earth is attacking it, and it’s a race against the clock to uncover the real threat before a worldwide geostorm wipes out everything…and everyone along with it.

Geostorm is set for release on October 20th and features a cast that includes Gerard Butler, Katheryn Winnick, Jim Sturgess, Abbie Cornish, Andy Garcia, and Ed Harris.
