Disney Animation chops down Jack and the Beanstalk movie Gigantic

October 15, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Disney Animation has decided to pull the plug on its Jack and the Beanstalk project Gigantic, which the studio had set for release on Thanksgiving 2020.

The project would have seen Jack meeting an 11-year-old female giant called Inma, with the two becoming friends and embarking on an epic adventure together., and was being directed by Meg LeFauve (Inside Out) and Nathan Greno (Tangled), with Oscar-winning Frozen songwriters Robert Lopez and Kirsten Anderson-Lopez also attached to pen original songs for the film.

According to Deadline, the production has hit creative hurdles, leading to it being shelved, and Disney is now developing a different project for the release slot.

Next up from Disney Animation are a couple of sequels, with Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 opening on November 21st 2018, followed by Frozen 2 on November 27th 2019.
