Gerard Butler says Angel Has Fallen is the series’ Logan

October 22, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Back in October it was announced that Gerard Butler is set to return as Secret Service agent Mike Banning for Angel Has Fallen, a sequel to the hit action films Olympus Has Fallen and London Has Fallen, and in an interview with Cinema Blend to promote his new film Geostorm, Butler has revealed that the third movie is set to deliver a more character-focussed story, similar to that of this year’s Logan.

“You know, it’s fun to watch a city falling or the White House falling, and it’s fun to watch it again, and you go ‘what?’ The joke would be, ‘What’s next? Tokyo?’ OK. So let’s take it in another direction and go inner world, and it just feels a little more surprising. It was almost like Logan was to Wolverine, is our Angel Has Fallen was to the first two.”

Angel Has Fallen is set to be directed by Ric Roman Waugh (Shot Caller), and will see Butler’s banning battling terrorists on board Air Force One. Morgan Freeman will be returning as the Vice President, although Aaron Eckhart’s President Asher won’t be back for a third outing.
