Karl Urban is unsure what’s happening with Star Trek 4

October 22, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Back in July of last year, Paramount and producer J.J. Abrams officially announced that Star Trek 4 was in development, and would see the return of Chris Hemsworth’s George Kirk, the father of Chris Pine’s James T. Kirk, from the 2009 reboot.

Since then, we’ve had little in the way of news on the project, save for some comments from Zachary Quinto suggesting that “there’s no guarantee” the sequel will movie forward, and now those comments have been echoed by Karl Urban during an interview with Screen Crush.

“You know as much as I do, my friend,” said Urban, who plays Leonard ‘Bones’ McCoy in the rebooted series. “Listen, we’d all love to make another Star Trek movie. That’s absolutely certain. But if we don’t get that opportunity then I’m really happy to have ended on such a good note. We had such a wonderful time shooting Star Trek Beyond. It was an amazing experience – and we’re all still grieving over the fact that it was the last time that we got to shoot with Anton Yelchin. We’re all like a family. It won’t be the same without him.”

Urban will next be seen alongside George Kirk himself, Chris Hemsworth, in the Marvel threequel Thor: Ragnarok, which begins its worldwide roll out this week. Read our review here.
