Olivia Munn to replace Zoe Saldana in Hummingbird

October 26, 2017 by Ricky Church

A few months ago Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 star Zoe Saldana was cast in the action thriller Hummingbird, but now it has been announced that she will now longer be starring in the film. Instead, she will be replaced by X-Men: Apocalypse’s Olivia Munn in the lead the role, Deadline has revealed.

The reason for the change is because of Saldana’s commitment to James Cameron’s Avatar sequels. Production on Avatar 2 began last month, shooting simultaneously with Avatar 3, creating scheduling conflicts for Saldana and Hummingbird.

Hummingbird comes from a script written by John McClain and will be directed by Swedish duo Markus Kryler and Fredrik Akerstrom. The story is said to be in the same type of vein as Luc Besson’s Lucy and will see Munn as a black-ops assassin whose latest mark forces her to confront her true identity.
